In Italy, the number of 'Covid-19' cases increased to 2036

In Italy, the number of infections with the new coronavirus has risen to 2,036, the Civil Protection Service said on Monday. Coronavirus cases have risen by about 20% compared to Sunday.

The new data also includes 52 people who died from coronavirus complications and 149 who have recovered. As late as Sunday, 34 deaths and 83 recoveries were reported.

908 people are in hospitals and 166 in intensive care units.

In almost half of the 927 cases, the symptoms are mild or nonexistent and the virus is expected to be transmitted when these infected persons are isolated at home.

The highest rates are in the northern provinces of Italy, with 1077 cases in Lombardy, 324 in Emilia Romagna, 271 in Veneto, 51 in Piedmont and 34 in Marche.

More than 3,000 people worldwide have died of Covid-19 coronavirus disease, authorities said Monday.

Almost 90,000 people have been infected with the Covid-19 virus, and the virus has spread to more than 60 countries from China.

Recent data suggest that the virus is slowing down in China. Italy is Covid-19's hardest-hit country in Europe.
